10-Minute Hot Fudge Sauce

A quick and easy hot fudge sauce that elevates any dessert in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces bittersweet baking chocolate or 2/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 8 ounces evaporated milk or half and half
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 to 8 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter and chocolate, stirring frequently until smooth and lustrous.
  2. Whisk in evaporated milk (or half and half) until the mixture is well combined and silky.
  3. Add sugar, cocoa powder, and salt; whisk together until fully blended.
  4. Continue cooking over medium-low heat, whisking frequently for 5–6 minutes until the mixture just begins to boil.
  5. Reduce the heat and simmer for an additional 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Serve warm over your favorite desserts or let cool before storing in a jar in the refrigerator.

Notes

Serve warm over desserts like ice cream, cake, or pancakes. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
