A delightful dish featuring golden, flaky crescent rolls filled with Italian sausage, melty mozzarella, and zesty marinara—comfort food at its finest!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans of refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 pound of Italian sausage
  • 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup of marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup of bell peppers, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the Filling: In a skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Stir in the marinara sauce and half of the mozzarella cheese. Mix well until combined, then remove from heat.
  2. Prepare the Crescent Rolls: On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, unroll the crescent rolls. Arrange them in a rectangle, overlapping the edges slightly to create a robust base.
  3. Fill It Up: Spoon the sausage mixture onto the center of the crescent roll rectangle. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese atop the filling.
  4. Seal the Goodness: Gently fold the edges of the crescent rolls over the filling, sealing as best as possible. Brush the top with the beaten egg.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 25 minutes, until golden brown.
  6. Slice and Serve: Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

Notes

Common pitfalls include overbaking and not sealing the edges properly. Allow to cool for a few minutes post-baking for best texture.
