Recreate the mouthwatering Olive Garden breadsticks at home with this easy and comforting recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups warm water
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast (or active dry yeast)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or honey
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter (for dough)
  • 4 tablespoons butter (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)
  • Optional: salt to taste for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water with yeast and sugar or honey, allowing it to sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbles form.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil or melted butter to your yeast mixture. Stir to combine until everything is moistened.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place your dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a warm cloth, and let it rise until doubled in size, approximately 45 minutes.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide it into 16 equal pieces, and roll each piece into a breadstick shape.
  6. Place them on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet and cover to rise a second time for about 30-45 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake the breadsticks for 12-15 minutes until golden.
  9. While baking, melt the butter for the topping and mix in garlic powder.
  10. Brush the baked breadsticks with the garlic-butter mixture and sprinkle with additional garlic powder and salt if desired.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftover breadsticks by wrapping in plastic wrap and freezing for up to three months.
