Instructions

Preparation

  • Combine 1.5 teaspoons of active dry yeast, 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar, and 60 millilitres of warm water in a mixing bowl. Stir gently and let it rest for 10 minutes until foamy.
  • In the bowl with the foamy yeast mixture, add 500 grams of all-purpose flour, 180 millilitres of whole milk, 180 millilitres of plain Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons of minced garlic, 60 millilitres of neutral oil, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1.5 teaspoons of fine salt. Mix on medium speed until a smooth dough ball forms.
  • Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead by hand for about three minutes until pliable and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.
  • Once risen, turn the dough onto a floured surface, divide it into 10 equal portions, and shape each into a ball. Flatten each ball into a thin disc.

Cooking

  • Preheat your air fryer. Place one or two of the flattened discs in the basket, spray lightly with oil, and cook at 188°C for 6 minutes.
  • Flip each naan and continue cooking for an additional 3 minutes until golden and puffed up.
  • Melt 70 grams of unsalted butter in a heatproof bowl, stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of minced garlic and 2 teaspoons of finely chopped parsley.
  • Once the naan is cooked, take them out of the air fryer while warm and brush generously with the garlic butter mixture.

Notes

For best results, ensure your yeast is fresh and active. Allow the dough to rise fully for fluffier naan. Refrigerate the dough for up to 24 hours for enhanced flavor.
