  • 1 stick unsalted butter to be melted
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1.75 cups buttermilk
  • 1.5 cups fresh blueberries ensure they're washed and dried

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk adjust for consistency

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • In a 9x13 dish, place the stick of unsalted butter and let it melt in the preheated oven.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 2½ cups of all-purpose flour, ¼ cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and ½ teaspoon of salt. Whisk together until well mixed.
  • Pour in the 1¾ cups of buttermilk and stir gently until just combined, ensuring not to over-mix.
  • Fold in the 1½ cups of fresh blueberries carefully.
  • Drop the dough in generous spoonfuls over the melted butter in the dish.

Baking

  • Bake for 22-25 minutes until the tops turn golden brown.

Glazing

  • Whisk together 1 cup of powdered sugar and 2-3 tablespoons of milk to create a glaze.
  • Once the biscuits are baked, drizzle the glaze over the warm biscuits.

Notes

For an enhanced flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or some lemon zest. Store leftovers in an airtight container or freeze for later.
