Preparation

  • In a saucepan, combine the fresh blueberries and granulated sugar over medium heat. Allow them to bubble and burst for about 5-7 minutes until thickened into a syrup. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and cream cheese together at medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add in the vanilla extract and mix well.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth and thick.
  • Gently beat in the cooled blueberry reduction until fully incorporated.
  • If the frosting is too thick, add milk or heavy cream one teaspoon at a time until your desired spreadable consistency is reached.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for about a week. For longer storage, freeze the frosting in an airtight container and thaw overnight before use.
