Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the finely diced yellow onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

  • In the same skillet, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Add the patties and brown for 4-5 minutes on each side.
  • Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add sliced onions and sauté for 3-4 minutes before adding the sliced mushrooms. Cook until golden and tender.
  • Pour in the beef broth and add onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Allow to simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Whisk together cornstarch and water, then gradually add it to the broth while stirring until the sauce thickens.
  • Return the patties to the skillet and let them simmer in the gravy for 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.

Notes

Tips: Let the cooked patties rest for a few minutes before serving. Add fresh parsley for garnish or a dollop of sour cream. Pair with mashed potatoes or rice for a heartier meal.
