  • to taste sesame seeds (for garnish) Adds texture and visual appeal.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and five-spice powder. Whisk until well combined.
  • Place the beef short ribs in a baking dish and pour the marinade over the ribs. Ensure each rib is generously coated.
  • Cover the dish with foil and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or ideally overnight.
  • Pour the beef broth into the dish and cover it again.

Cooking

  • Slow roast in the preheated oven for 3 to 4 hours, or until the meat is tender and falls off the bone.
  • Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Letting the meat marinate overnight enhances flavor absorption. Covering during roasting retains moisture for tender ribs. For a flavor boost, consider adding hoisin sauce to the marinade. Serve with steamed rice or roasted vegetables for a balanced meal.
