  • 1 lb fresh crabmeat (jumbo lump preferred) For the best results, use jumbo lump crabmeat.
  • ½ cup mayonnaise Can substitute with Greek yogurt for a healthier option.
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice Provides tanginess.
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp Old Bay seasoning Adds coastal flavor.
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper Adjust to taste for spiciness.
  • ½ tsp dry mustard
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • ¼ cup fresh breadcrumbs For topping.
  • 1 tsp paprika For topping.
  • 3 tbsp butter, cubed For topping.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Butter four ramekins generously.
  • In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, fresh lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, cayenne pepper, dry mustard, and the beaten egg. Stir until smooth.
  • Gently fold in the fresh crabmeat.
  • Spoon the crab mixture into the prepared ramekins, distributing evenly among them.
  • Top each ramekin with fresh breadcrumbs and a sprinkle of paprika, then dot with cubed butter.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
  • Allow to rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve alongside a mixed salad or steamed asparagus. For variations, consider adding sautéed vegetables or using a small casserole dish if ramekins are unavailable.
