For the Cream Cheese Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Rich and creamy base for the filling.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Balances the richness of the cream cheese.
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour For dusting to prevent sticking.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds aromatic essence.
  • 1 egg yolk optional For added richness and a golden color.

For Serving

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine your softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. If using, add the egg yolk and beat the mixture until smooth.
  • Unroll the crescent dough onto a lightly floured surface and press the seams together to form a single sheet.
  • Cut the dough into triangles or squares, placing 1–2 tablespoons of cream cheese filling in the center of each piece.
  • Fold the dough over the filling, pinching the edges firmly to seal to prevent leaks.
  • Arrange the filled pastries on the prepared baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.

Finishing Touches

  • Allow to cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and add fresh fruit or preserves before serving.

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is softened and do not skip the egg wash for a shiny finish. For healthier variations, substitute cream cheese with Greek yogurt and use whole grain dough.
