  • 1 3-5 pound beef brisket, trimmed the star of the dish, meaty and delicious
  • 2 onions, sliced sweet and aromatic, they bring depth to the dish
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic about 3 cloves, adds an enticing aroma and flavor
  • 3/4 cup beef broth provides moisture and enhances the richness
  • 3/4 cup BBQ sauce the flavor powerhouse, choose your favorite brand
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce adds umami depth to the sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce works beautifully in tandem with the BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional) for thickening the sauce, if desired
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil high smoke point oil for searing

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Combine the BBQ seasoning, light brown sugar, and sea salt in a small dish and rub the mixture over the top of the meat. Let it stand at room temperature for 1 hour, or refrigerate overnight for maximum flavor.
  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).

Cooking

  • In a large Dutch oven, heat the avocado oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket for about 5 minutes on each side until browned.
  • Remove the brisket and sauté sliced onions for about 6 minutes until soft. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Deglaze the pot with beef broth, scraping up any browned bits.
  • Return the brisket to the pot and whisk together BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Pour it over the brisket.
  • Cover and slow cook in the preheated oven for 4 to 4 ½ hours.
  • Remove the brisket and rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
  • Whisk together cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water and pour it into the pot. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Slice the brisket against the grain and serve with the sauce.

Notes

Marinate overnight for enhanced flavor. Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness, aiming for 195-205 degrees F. Add vegetables like carrots or potatoes in the last hour of cooking. Customize your BBQ sauce for a personalized touch.
