For the base and filling

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls Soft, flaky, and buttery rolls for the base.
  • 0.5 pound deli-sliced roast beef Tender and juicy, the star component.
  • 1 cup grated Swiss cheese Creamy and slightly nutty, melts beautifully.

For the flavoring

  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix Brings savory depth to the filling.
  • 0.25 cup melted butter Adds richness and helps bind flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Adds umami and complexity.
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder Elevates the overall flavor.
  • 1 cup beef broth For dipping, warm and flavorful.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Open one can of crescent rolls and unroll the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, pressing the seams together to create a base.
  • Layer the deli-sliced roast beef evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the grated Swiss cheese on top.
  • In a small bowl, mix the dry onion soup mix, melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder, then drizzle this mixture over the cheese layer.
  • Unroll the second can of crescent rolls on top, pinching the seams to create a smooth top layer.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the crescent rolls are golden brown.
  • While baking, warm the beef broth in a small pot over medium heat.
  • Once baked, allow the squares to cool slightly in the dish before cutting into squares.

Serving

  • Serve the squares on a platter alongside the warm beef broth for dipping.
  • Encourage everyone to dip and enjoy together.

Notes

Ensure to press the seams of the crescent rolls firmly to avoid sticking, and monitor baking time to prevent overcooking.
