  • ½-1 tsp garlic salt Adds a delightful kick.
  • 2 cans (10.5 oz each) beef consommé Provides a deep, velvety base.
  • 2 cans (10.5 oz each) French onion soup Infused with caramelized onions.
  • ¾ cup water Helps achieve the right consistency.
  • 2 cups uncooked long-grain white rice Soaks up delicious juices.
  • ¾ cup butter, sliced Creates a rich and satisfying topping.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Grease a 9x13 dish with butter or cooking spray.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat for about 6-8 minutes until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle garlic salt over the beef while cooking.
  • Pour in beef consommé, French onion soup, and ¾ cup water into the skillet. Stir and let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  • Pour uncooked rice into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  • Pour the hot beef mixture over the rice evenly.
  • Dot with slices of butter on top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Add sautéed onions, bell peppers, or mushrooms to the beef mix for more nutrition. For cheesy finish, sprinkle shredded cheese on top during the last 10 minutes of baking. Add red pepper flakes for spice.
