Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent.
  • Add the ground beef along with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and drain any excess fat.
  • In a large bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.

Assembly

  • Grease a casserole dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  • Add the beef mixture, sprinkle half of the shredded cheese on top, and pour half of the soup mixture over these layers.
  • Add the remaining potatoes, pour the rest of the soup mixture over, and top with the remaining cheese.
  • Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to give a golden finish.

Serving

  • Let the casserole cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Consider adding fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary for added flavor. You can also sprinkle breadcrumbs on top or mix different cheeses for a unique flavor.
