  • 0.25 cup Parmesan Cheese Grated for nutty flavor.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced or powdered for aromatic warmth.
  • 0.25 cup Onion Finely chopped to contribute sweetness.
  • 1 package Phyllo Dough or Puff Pastry Resulting in flaky shells.
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil or Melted Butter For brushing the dough.
  • 0.25 tsp Red Pepper Flakes Adds a hint of warmth.
  • 0.25 tsp Nutmeg Provides a delightful background note.
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Herbs Dill, parsley or chives for brightness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and room-temperature mozzarella cheese. Warm the cream cheese slightly if needed for easy mixing.
  • Add in the grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and finely chopped onions. Sprinkle in the nutmeg and stir until everything melds into a creamy mixture.
  • Fold in the prepared spinach and fresh herbs, mixing gently until thoroughly blended.
  • If using phyllo dough, layer several sheets, brush with olive oil/butter, cut into squares, and press into a muffin tin. For puff pastry, roll, cut circles, and place into the tins.

Baking

  • Generously spoon the filling into each pastry cup.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Tips: Make sure cream cheese is softened, pat spinach dry, try different cheeses, and consider blind-baking for crispier cups.
