Preparation
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, Montreal steak seasoning, egg, and bread crumbs. Mix until just combined.
Divide the mixture into four patties and brown them in a hot skillet for 2-3 minutes per side.
Once browned, place the patties into a lightly greased slow cooker.
In a separate bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, water, and brown gravy mix.
Pour the creamy mixture over the patties in the slow cooker.
Cooking
Allow everything to cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 5-6 hours until patties are tender.
Serving
Serve the Salisbury steaks with gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
To lighten the meal, use whole-wheat bread crumbs or a dairy-free cream of mushroom soup. Watch for overbaking to avoid dryness.
